Umm, yum!! Was looking for a cool treat and came across the best place ever! They serve their ice cream sundaes on a hot, fresh Belgian waffle! I had the Mint Condition ice cream, which is a waffle, mint chocolate chip ice cream, hot fudge, Andes mints and a mountain of whipped cream! The chocolate chips in the ice cream were filled with mint flavor. It was so tasty, and it was a very generous serving. Wish I had been in town longer to go back and try more of their delicious flavor combinations!

Need somewhere to go put the top on the evening after a good meal in Boothbay Harbor? Well look no further than Wannawaf! Tried them four years ago after a rather disappointing dinner at Andrew's which is up above Wannawaf. We needed a reprieve and the ice cream there did the trick. We went back this year, twice in fact, although the second time was the best. Four of us just finished a fantastic meal at the Boathouse Bistro and walked over. My wife got the Maine Blueberry that tasted just like fresh picked berries right from the field. Our friends got two other flavors, but what they really liked was the fresh waffle cones. I, on the other hand, went rogue and got a Black Raspberry milkshake (ok, "frappe" because we are in New England). Can I tell you it was the best, ever! Definitely need to make this a more regular stop and try the waffles one of these days. So should you!

Stopped by here for a quick snack around lunchtime after earlier having breakfast at Andrews Harbourside (right above Wannawaf) we got the s'mores bowl which had graham crackers and marshmellows in it... Every bite was better than the last until I was done! Totally recommend!

OMG! Came for dessert and I made the mistake by not checking out what anyone else was eating! All of us ordered small scoops or the regular waffles with ice cream specials and the servings were Ginormous! Oh so delicious! Will definitely go back the next time I'm in the area. 4 people could probably eat 1 regular dessert after dinner. It's that big!

Don't be fooled... THIS is the best ice cream of boothbay!!! Walk over the harbor water along the footbridge with some of the best ice cream. Raspberry Truffle is my taste of summer

Scream dogs and waffles Just like Yelp has the infamous Fro-Yo Girl, the town of Boothbay Harbor has Waffle Girl. Her real name is Anya Arsenault but she likes to be referred to as Waffle Girl because she has this thing for waffles. Her store has a wonderful selection of all kinds of strange and quite delicious things. Lots of sundaes with weird names and unusual ingredients, various hot dogs with zillions of toppings and of course the waffles. Lots of Belgian Waffles and waffles with the ice cream. Wannawaf is located close to the water and the iconic Boothbay Walking Bridge and has lovely views of the water. Lots of tables outside so you can sit and watch things go by as you consume your wafflely treats. Wannawaf had a bit of a scare last year when Anya tried to expand into Portland. The new store didn't develop the following that the Boothbay Store has and quickly faded into oblivion, almost taking this store with it. People from the community actually chipped in with donations that allowed Wannawaf to open again. Like most of Boothbay Harbor, Wannawaf is now asleep for the winter. However I suspect Anya will again open Wannawaf in the spring. That will be good because Boothbay Harbor would not be the same without the wafflely store with the funny name.

This is the best ice cream in the harbor--that other place on the pier is just a diversion to distract the people from away from forming up too much of a line at Wannawaf. Watch out for senior citizens swooping in, claiming your cone before you can get to the pick-up counter (My wife had hers taken right out from underneath her, and was told it happens all the time). Well worth the theft, we always come back. When the BHYC youth program sails into the harbor, Wannawaf is their choice as well.

This place has great ice cream and a great staff! The first time we where here the girl behind the counter was really friendly and explained they didnt have waffle dogs any longers but they could make me something close to that. Also went into full detail about the Moxie (Maine soda if you are not familar) and how it will grow hair on your chest. We shared 2 dogs. One was called A Dog named Jeff and i forget the other. Jeff had honey mustard, mayo and cheddar on it I think. Just ok but only due to the choice I made. I liked the bf's better. He had mustard, hot peppers and tomato. peanut butter cup ice cream was top notch!!!!!

On our last night in Boothbay, we enjoyed hot, fresh, crispy-on-the-outside Belgian waffle sundaes here that were out of this world! There's a huge selection of ice cream & topping combos - even if you decide to skip the waffle and go with a cone or traditional sundae you will love it. The staff were very friendly, attentive and ran the place like a well oiled machine. We'll be back!

We frequented Wannawaf many times during our stay in Boothbay. It is a very cute ice cream and hot dog shop at the end of the footbridge into town. It is in a great location, with an attentive and phenomenally friendly staff. The owner is a really nice guy and runs a wonderful business. The variety of ice creams are to die for. We had a number of the flavors and a couple of the sundaes. All were fantastic! We look forward to going back many times! Don't miss the best ice cream in Boothbay!

While I was next door getting a lobster roll from Shannon's unshelled my wife and her friend went to wanna waff for a little sweetness. My wife got the s'mores waffle Sunday and by just looking at her eat it she loved it. It did look really good and when she did come up for air she said that it was the best thing ever.

Great desert, a warm waffle with ice cream and toppings, delicious! Fun place to sit down outside and enjoy your treat after walking around Boothbay Harbor. We always make a stop here when we're in town. Don't believe the bogus review about the 4 hot dogs for $45, the prices are all listed before ordering as well as available online. (If I didn't see a price somewhere I was at, I would do the obvious thing and ask)

YOU WILL BE ACCOSTED BY A YELLOW JACKET AND I DON'T EAT HOTDOGS. That said, I do eat the hotdogs from Wannawaf because they are awesome and this has become my Boothbay go- to lunch spot. Reuben dog is my fav and I like the ice tea. I dunno how they do it but they do- hot dog is awesome, toppings are awesome, and the bun is awesome. There is a good variety of waffles and hot dogs on the menu and create-your-own options. I have not tried the waffles or ice cream yet, because I go for that hotdog and it is quite filling, but one of these days! The yellow jackets are very interested in your soda and hotdogs however, you be prepared to dodge them on a hot summer day.

Stopped for hotdogs for the fam. $45 for 4 dogs and 4 drinks. No prices were listed. Food was terrible. Would never recommend.

The only things we've ever gotten here are the waffle sundae, and that's all we ever plan on getting. OMG, the homemade Belgian waffles are some of the best I've ever had. Cover them in homemade ice cream, candy, fruit, whatever you want, they're out of this world amazing. The sundaes are so rich; if you're going to get a 'Regular' size, get the Classic (a waffle, vanilla ice cream, strawberries, whipped cream, and powdered sugar). Despite the deliciousness, you won't be able to finish any of the other decadent choices, unless you come with an empty stomach.
